Our tribute to the rich history of the Kinnears Ropeworks site has made the front page of Maribyrnong & Hobsons Bay Star Weekly!
As part of our vision to preserve and revitalise this historic site, we are telling the stories of former staff, such as Jeff Moore, as well as restoring heritage buildings and laneways.
Not only did Jeff work at Kinnears himself, but his parents met while they were both working there. Jeff’s dad was a storeman for the engineers and worked at Kinnears for more than 40 years while his mum worked on one of the production lines before leaving to start their family.
His visit to Ropeworks brought back many fond memories of attending the notorious Kinnears Christmas parties every year with his family.
During his visit to the site, Jeff joined R&F Property staff for a personal tour of a former Kinnears building once a rope dispensary and dining hall for social events, now restored as part of the masterplan vision for Ropeworks.
