Footscray is a vibrant and upcoming suburb of Melbourne. The diverse and multicultural area is booming with upgrades and redevelopments, which is exactly why now is the perfect opportunity for you to take the plunge and invest in a luxury property at Millhouse Residence – strategically located on Footscray’s Ballarat Road.

We explore what redevelopments are coming to the area, and how they’ll add value to your investment at Millhouse Residence.

Footscray Hospital

A booming community upgrade to keep an eye out for is the new Footscray Hospital. The Victorian Government has provided up to $1.5 billion to deliver the largest ever health infrastructure investment in the state. Once the redevelopment of the hospital is complete, residents in Melbourne’s western suburbs can expect to receive high quality care close to home.

With an increase of nearly 200 beds, the upgraded hospital will treat approximately 15,000 additional patients and enable an additional 20,000 people to be seen by the emergency department each year. Not only will this reduce pressure on surrounding hospitals, but decrease wait times for emergency services. The upgraded infrastructure will be a community asset in a multitude of ways, providing services such as childcare, gymnasium, pharmacy, general practice facilities, community health facilities, cases & retail, and office spaces. The proposed designs demonstrates the hospital’s striking exteriors, street entries and green spaces. These have been carefully considered to create a welcoming atmosphere for patients, families and staff.

Located on the corner of Geelong and Ballarat Roads, the hospital will only be 600 meters away from Millhouse Residence, which roughly equates to a 7-minute walk. The construction of the hospital is already underway, and is expected to open in 2025.

The Hub

The excitement for the future of Footscray doesn’t stop there. As a result of the development of the hospital, the new Footscray Hospital Jobs Hubs has opened – creating new opportunities for jobseekers in the inner-west suburbs.

This opportunity has been established by Apprenticeships Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Health Building Authority, Plenary Health and builder Multiplex to provide a one-stop-shop for work and training opportunities on the project.

The aim of The Hub is to directly connect jobseekers to opportunities relating to recruitment, skills training, careers counselling and employment pathways for the Footscray Hospital project. It also facilitates workforce development programs for existing project workers and contractors.

It is expected that the Footscray Hospital redevelopment will have an estimated 177 new project-specific jobs, which will result in the employment of more than 2,000 people and 70 apprenticeships, traineeships, and cadetships to join the pipeline of skilled workers to help build the world-class healthcare project.

As a proclaimed ‘one-stop shop’, The Hub will be supporting industry, contractors, jobseekers, and students. It’s no secret Footscray is on the rise, so why wouldn’t you want to be a part of this growth? With a state-leading health infrastructure investment around the corner and thousands of new job opportunities on the rise, this is a community you want to be a part of.

The best part is Millhouse Residence is within walking distance from these great facilities. If you would like to find out more about how you can secure your spot in Footscray, click here.
