Got your heart set on an off-the-plan apartment or townhouse? If so, it’s wise to book an appointment at the project’s display suite to get a feel for the standard of finishes, the vision for the overall project and feel confident about your purchase decision.

If you’ve never visited a display suite, here’s what you can expect – and the questions you should be asking before signing on the dotted line.

First up, you’ll have to answer some questions

Don’t worry – there’s no tricky questions or ‘gotcha’ moments during this process. The salesperson showing you through the display suite only wants to ask you a couple of questions about your preferences to find out what you’re looking for in a new property so they can recommend the perfect residence to suit your lifestyle. You might be asked about how many bedrooms you’re looking for, or whether you’d prefer a north-facing or south-facing property.

This is your chance to ask some preliminary questions about project deadlines, previous developments completed by the developer or available project incentives.

From there, it’s time for a tour!

The next step – and arguably, the most exciting one – is to go on a tour of the display suite. You’ll get to see full-sized replicas of rooms that may feature in your apartment or townhouse. This is your opportunity to inspect the quality of the furnishings and fittings used throughout the project. Display suites are usually decked out with on-trend décor, so it’s also your chance to gain some interior decorating inspiration!
